Black Pearl & Mama Restaurants, #Phuket

Black Pearl & Mama are two restaurants in one: set in a long open-sided one storey building,
the only difference between the two of them is
their theme colour – black for the former and white for the latter.

Enjoying a prime location on the shore of Karon Lake (a.k.a. Nong Harn Lake)
near the northern end of Karon Beach (on the road to Patong Beach),
this tourist-oriented contemporary style venue serves international
and Thai favourites at reasonable prices.

The view to the Northeast over the lake and the mountains in the background is superb.
At dusk, when things cool down a bit, it is a great place
indeed to enjoy a cocktail in good company before dinner.

Opened in December 2013 under Sugar Marina Group Management
(which also run Sugar Marina Resort – Art in Karon and Sugar Marina Resort – Fashion in Kata),
these restaurants are stylish yet unpretentious.

Black Pearl and Mama Restaurants (plus Moken Bar, which is planned to open for end 2014)
are set in a corridor-like building that covers a 1,600sqm area (80x20m) on the side of Karon Lake.

Featuring buffed-concrete flooring and a pergola style roof,
the main dining area can host up to 145 guests in total. Most of the wooden tables and chairs
(with black or white table cloth according to the restaurant they belong to)
offer a great view to the lake.

Both restaurants also have slightly more private dining rooms/areas at their backside,
including a comfortable and nicely decorated air-conditioned dining room – named
Mama Collection – on the Mama Restaurant’s side; quirkily enough,
a genuine red English telephone booth is installed in front of Mama Collection.

Black Pearl & Mama Restaurants are the right place to spend a relaxing end of afternoon
and enjoy a decent and affordable dinner in Karon Beach.
Please note that Black Pearl and Mama also have branches in Kata’s Soi Sugar Palm.
